The Story of the Wu Tang Clan

Great documentary about the highs and lows of the Wu Tang Clan since they formed way back in 93. Although 36 Chambers is approaching 20 years old, it still sounds better than most music coming out today. The Wu are hip hop at its best.

Outerspace tee's in collaboration with MARVEL

Difficult to tell you much about these tee's as the promo vid is all in Mandarin. But hey, who needs words when you have Marvel and massive melons :)

More photos on the Outerspace Facebook page or head on over to their MAIN WEBSITE to try and purchase. Goodluck!

Some people are just too clever for my liking! This dude named 'Le Chuck' has gone and built the best thing since microwavable popcorn. Standing just under 12 inches tall, this miniture 1983 Star Wars arcade machine takes the crown for inventiveness. Have a watch of the video below to learn more about the making of this fine piece of engineering and to witness the game play in action.

TMNT original concept illustration up for sale now at Heritage Auctions

This would definitely become the pinnacle of any geek art collection. Heritage Auctions are offering this TMNT original concept drawing by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Its expected to fetch $50,000 USD or more so put your tongues back in your mouth & dream on! Here's the background to this fine piece of comic/cartoon history:

"Late in November 1983, Peter Laird and I were sharing a studio (our living room) in Dover, New Hampshire . One work night , in an effort to make Peter laugh, I drew a sketch of this character I called a "Ninja Turtle" and threw it onto Peter's desk. He did laugh, and did a version of his own -- to which I needed to take it one step further, and did a pencil sketch of four different Turtles, each holding a different weapon -- and gave it to Peter, who wanted to ink it in -- and when he did, he added "Teenage Mutant" to the "Ninja Turtle" part of the logo, and we both fell off our chairs!"

"The next day, we both looked at the drawing, and decided that we really needed to come up with a story about how these characters came to be -- and began to hammer out the story details. Deciding to make it an homage/parody to some of our heroes and inspirations -- (and dedicating it to them) -- we worked through the winter of 1983-84, and after finding a local New England printer, we borrowed money from my Uncle Quentin, and we printed the first 3 ,000 copies -- premiering the book at a local Portsmouth comic convention May 5th, 1984.

From that day forward, and for the next thirty years, the TMNTs became a world wide phenomenon (cartoons, toys, and movies) that even to this day we still try to completely understand -- and it all started with this drawing... "
The piece should be familiar to most any Turtles fan, as it's been reprinted many times over the years. It was sent out in the original press release package back in 1984 and found its way into much of the early press coverage. It was also shown in the First Comics graphic novel in 1986, a special edition reprint of the first issue from 1992, and as a pin-up in some of the Mirage black and white issues.

Marker on paper. This piece has an image area of 8.5" x 11", and the art is in Excellent condition. From the Collection of Kevin Eastman.

Here we have a selection of prints for the upcoming 'geek inspired' show at Blank Space GalleryConnecticut (USA). View more of the upcoming artwork over at: insidetherockposterframe

In The Garage: 'Art Celebrating Geek Culture opens Friday at Blank Space Gallery in Connecticut. Inspired by Weezer's Blue Album staple "In The Garage" which shares a lot of theme's with The Beach Boy's "In My Room" is about the places we went as children and young adults where we felt safe, from the Mushroom Kingdom, the Garage Band, to fighting in the Ring against Bald Bull.  It harkens back to a simpler time in our lives when the most pressing issue was getting home from school to save the Princess, or covering three chord punk songs in the basement with friends.  It's the common shared pasts we've all had being  "geeks."  Finding within our own memories the idea that though we might have been playing Nintendo by ourselves, we were hardly alone.'

'The Crow' print by James O'Barr - available Tuesday 10th April

'This Tuesday at 2pm CST, Nakatomi will be releasing our long-awaited collaboration with Comic-Art legend, James O’Barr.

This limited edition silk screened art print measures 18×24, and is signed by O’Barr in an edition of 150 worldwide.'

'James has been incredibly amazing to work with, and very generous of his time.  We first met James at a Texas-based comic convention, and he was struck by the screen printing process and how rich the colors and textures could be.  After a few more conversations, the deal was sealed, and we were finding ourselves planning a print with one of the most influential artistic voices to come out of indie-comics.
Nakatomi is very proud to release this edition, and we have much more in mind for the future with both The Crow and James!

We will announce on Twitter when this print is available for sale, but if you’re on the site at 2pm CST on Tuesday, you should be fine!

Special thanks to artist Nick Derington for not only providing the great colors on this print, but for introducing us to James back in the day.'
