My vintage eastern critter - playing with the rabbit
This is the leftover of a rabbit I cut out of an old book page. It was just per accident that I laid it on my "try-it-all" book cover. Doens't it look great? I took a picture and again: I played with all the photo editing features of picasa. Oh.... and no... I can't decide which one would be my favorite! I love them all! A little bit to late for eastern this year... but next year I will print some of the pictures in a high quality to make some cards out of them!

Easter eggs
The easter eggs I made this year. Real egg shells...
...filled with chocolate!
I used these acrylic colours from reeves. I really prefer to use the metallic paints from reeves because it is rare that acrylic colours have a real metallic shine / effect and these ones have! :)
An inner layer with dark chocolate...
(60 % and 70 % dark chocolate mixed, one even with caramel pieces!)
...some eggs were even solid inside with nougat! (just pourred after the chocolate layer hardened)
Filled with crunchy stuff!
You see, I played with the special photo effects of picasa ^^

"The graphic designer in me couldn't resist attempting faux Pantone Easter eggs. I dyed these boiled eggs, then typed up the labels and printed them on ink jet temporary tattoo paper. Remember to print the words backwards! (I used Silhouette brand tattoo paper I bought at my local PaperSource, but you can also get similar stuff from DecalPaper.com.) And yes, I'm such a nerd that I had to match the color numbers properly using my chip book."

Quick Pic: Dalek Egg
For a friend who's birthday is right around now. Not quite to scale, but the blue rings, and eyeball, for example, were beads I already had that were just too cool to pass up. With advice and information from the lovely Project Dalek people. Who were slightly nonplussed at the "egg Dalek" concept, but supportive nonetheless. Full documentation of the build to follow.
Note that I do not have, nor do I claim, any ownership of Doctor Who or the Dalek characters. Thus, while it's fine with me if you use this photo (Creative Commons licensed) the people who do own those properties may object...
Quick Pic: Stargate: Atlantis Eggs
The puddlejumpers are small transport ships on Stargate: Atlantis. They go through the stargate, and are shaped like ziti. I thought it wouldn't be too hard to make an egg into one, but it was a pain in the neck. Didn't get good shades of gray out of the dyes, and had to go over the black lines with pen, post-dyeing. However, the actual lines and shapes are (from screenshots) about as close to accurate as I could get them. Did this one a few years ago.

Some easter cards...
Just used as tags :)
The stencil was made out of paper and just laid over an ink pad for stamping... and then the ink pad was used like a stamp itself. I just have to try this with some other designs, I think the perfect good night profejt (easy, fast, sweet).
Or just some printed paintings / illustrations / other pictures were cut out and glued on a small tag. There could have been more structure to the background although I quite like it this plain :)
PS: One thing learned: One cannot use this silver ink pad on all papers or otherwise after drying the silver paint is not fixed (all those silver spots on my fingers... :/). Maybe just fixation spray afterwards or different paper...
