Installation: Forms
Forms is a multiscreen digital artwork commissioned by the National Media Museum for the exhibition In the Blink of an Eye: Media and Movement, which is part of the Cultural Olympiad program. This generative animation and interactive installation will display at the Museum from 9 March – 2 September.
A large projection of the animation will be displayed within the space, with a smaller split screen mounted on a plinth just in front to show not only the original footage of athletes on which each animation is based, but also the individual layers of that animation, which can be digitally peeled back by the viewer.

Short Film: Load
If you ever feel overwhelmed at work, this is the short film for you. In one of the strongest visual metaphors I have seen for quite a while, the protagonist of the piece finds himself covered in post-it notes from head to toe and soon learns an important lesson about priorities that changes his perception of the world around him.
A man covered in responsibilities and burdened by the weight of his work is swept away on a journey that changes his perception of life.

Short Film: Dorothy
What happens when fairy tales and our modern technology collide? Which is the more real? When Dorothy finds herself lost in space, all seems lost, but for a small twist of magic.
"Dorothy" was initially a collaboration project called "Twisted Tales" between singer/songwriter Yunyu, manga artist Queenie Chan and theCommonist. The first released song was based on Dorothy who contemplates her fate as her magic shoes no longer work, therefore she is stuck in space.
With the wonderful song by Yunyu, theCommonist wanted to try something more surreal, and came across a concept that, what if the 'space' we were told it's fake? Hence, we designed and made the naive cosmonaut to stuck in a 'man-made space', a space with fake planets and stars, like a planetarium.
Real is Fake is Real, this paradox continues to inspire theCommonist in developing the lost cosmonaut story in our coming short film project called "The Planetarium".

Short Film: Insert Coin
Who said that boys have no imagination? Well, here are two who will admit that to the end – boy’s lives are dull, dull, dull. Except, of course, when we can see what they are thinking!
This is a wonderful animated short was created by Alisson Thiebaut, Nicolas Garcia Tunon and Louis Beucler. They are or were students at Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard (HEAJ).

Macoto Murayama is a japanese architect-turned-artist who has turned to digitally dissecting and reconstructing flowers to help Panasonic Hollywood Labs promote their technology. With a spatial awareness and attention to detail that comes from years of working as an architect, Murayama is able to reveal the the hidden elements of the inner flower. Murayama studies each part of the plant separately in order to recreate the individual components as a precisely as possible.

Short Film: Ride of Passage
It seems that in the way back when men used to measure their manliness by the size of the... dead creature on their head. So, when young Toki’s turn comes to go in to the forest and kill the biggest animal he can then he is determined to do just that. However, the jungle can do strange things to a boy and he meets a new friend who gives him the chance to achieve something much greater than anything he expected.
This is yet another marvelous Bachelor Film Project from The Animation Workshop. It was created by Christian Bøving-Andersen, Casper Michelsen, Eva Lee Wallberg, Tina Lykke Thorn, Søren B. Nørbæk, Allan Lønskov, Jakob Kousholt and David F. Otzen.

DreamGiver tells the story of the mysterious being who flies around dispensing our dreams to us. Yet even this celestial creature has been known to make mistakes! One evening as he visits an orphanage he gives a little boy a dream which opens up in the wrong place altogether!
This great animated short was at created Brigham Young University's Center for Animation and was directed by Tyler Carter. The film has played in hundreds of festivals around the world including the College Television Awards "Student Emmy", Cannes Film Festival, Anima Mundi, Comic Con, Adobe Design Competition, Angelus Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, SIGGRAPH and many more.

Short Film: Fantastic Flying Books
Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, "Morris Lessmore" is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) award winning author/ illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg present a new narrative experience that harkens back to silent films and M-G-M Technicolor musicals. "Morris Lessmore" is old fashioned and cutting edge at the same time.
“The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” is one of five animated short films that will be considered for outstanding film achievements of 2011 in the 84th Academy Awards.
