Not so lazy sunday morning...

Hello there, I'm lachafa, saraccinos baby sister.
She's been trying to get me to contribute to her blog for ages, but for several reasons unsuccesfully, one of the biggest being that I don't own a good camera.
This is still true, but today I decided not to care and just go with it.

I hope i can figure this out :D

I assume some of you know this feeling: Today I woke up and just NEEDED to do something crafty.
So I trawled my room for a bit and found this:

A piece of expensive looking fabric I've been dying to work with, a green zipper and some of saraccinos adorable buttons.

Of course I started off by sewing the zipper on with the wrong side up, but that's what you get for being to quik on a sunday morning. :(
I started over and kept going and in the end I'm quite happy with the result:

It's a little box pouche. I will use it to carry around my knitting stuff when I'm on the go!

Once again THANK YOU, saraccino, for the buttons. I love to add them to my stuff, they really make the expression "cute as a buttton" work. :D

Also out of the molds... some buttons!

The molds from here :)

What else should I say? For the buttons I used polymer clay (fimo) for the stability.

I always use either a knitting needle or a sharped pencil to get smooth button holes.

I just press it in on the front. The hole won't go through perfectly, I also carve the hole from the other side after baking with a sharp knife.

Okay... this are no buttons... but maybe small decorations for cards or so?

Work in progress... or: More of the buttons!

...with air-drying clay this time! :)

I love the colours... I used water acrylic paints to create the light and dark effects.

I am just not sure whether I should leave them as they are... or add a additional layer of laquer for protection. Mh... Any suggestions?

And yes, I'll mount / sew them all on little cards ^^

Wooden buttons...

I promised some more crafting projects over the weekend. Here is one of them: little wooden buttons. It also belongs into my only-a-few-minutes projects ^^

I found this little wood chips at the decoration stuff for flower arrangements. Cool. Loved them at first sight and also knew instantly that they would be perfect to make little buttons out of them.

There were only the holes missing. But this was a problem I solved using my beloved dremel :)

One could sand them to get a smooth surface but i like them rough as they are. Maybe nothing for clothing but they would be great as decoration and / or scrapbooking, nai? :)

Buttons

This are most of the buttons I made here. Not all (not intentionally, I just forgot some ^^). I took some cardboard, stamped the obvious onto it (with my carved button stamps) and then fixed the buttons on the little cards by sewing.

On the back is my blog name :) I send them all to Lachafa. Either she can use them on her own or she can "order" the structures she likes in her favorite colours and give the buttons she don't need away (either to friends or completly strangers). ;)

Find all the structures!

I just love structures. Therefor I started a search for structures around me. I wanted structures / textures to go with fimo (polymer clay) especially with buttons. Of course I used stamps and my button-size cookie cutter.

Wooden stamps, silicon stamps, handcarved rubber stamps, fimo stamps...

And a little fimo stone I made years... (over 12 years I think... or even more...) ago with a little rune. I found it per accident in a little old box where I store old fotos ^^ But I was even more surprised as I saw that I used a colour of Fimo they don't produce anymore. It was a little bit like jade with wonderful marbled greens...

After that I used all the things below! And some more... which I forgot to put in the picture.

Maybe you find them? :)

The circles....! A JordiLabanda pen ^^

I added acrylic colours... just to experiment a little bit with shadows, the fluidity of the paints, how to rub the colour of, how my dremel could affect the result... All this kind of things.

I don't like every button but I learned from every single one!

The reason for my choosen clay colours was easy: Leftovers! :)

I also made with my little carved key stamps some fimo molds...

Some pendants, mostly buttons...

Button stamps...

It is already some time ago sinced I carved some stamps. Here we go, some little new stamps carved out of normal erasers. Little buttons and the word button in english and german (Knopf). And I love the mirror inverted N! With a white pen I added some painted stiches on the buttons. :)

Crochet scarf

I am trying a lot of different and (for me) new crochet pattern. I am not allowing myself too much time for this but it is quite nice while having some coffee with friends :)

This one was made with two threads (50g / 150 m) at once with a crochet hook size 6 mm (german). I just played around with this "bubble" pattern. It creates a really sturdy kind of scarf (which I like). If I am doing this again I would probably just make it not so wide.... and a little bit longer (just a few cm, but I run out of yarn ^^).

But long as it is you can also wear it like this :)

The buttons are stiched on the side so it'll create some kind of triangle when closed.

The buttons are made out of fimo (polymer clay). I stamped the dark brown fimo with a wooden fabric stamp and made little holes in the middle with a knitting needle. After baking the buttons I used metallic acrylic paint for the surfaced (Yes, I just applied it with my fingertips ^^)

The buttons without the paint...

...and all the bubbles!
