A little skull picture...

...for my ever-growing picture wall! Just a small one but definitly needed to go to my strange collection of maps, family pictures, coloured frames, tentacles, mirrors and more. Still not "big" enough!

It is like the skull envelope an easy and fast project. I just printed the skull in black and white...

...coloured the surroundings wild with my three shades of brown and a little bit of black artistic water colours...

It is a little bit difficult for me to point out in english which kind of paints I use (or at least it is always soooo long to write it down). In germany you have either "Aquarellmalfarben" (the artistic water colours) or "Wassermalfarben" (the normal school water colours) and both is really specific for their meaning. I am not sure whether it is also clear when I write down artistic water colours? But the difference in the kinds of paint really maters. Because the artistic water colours are highly pigmented with a really good quality (and they last forever and ever... don't mind that they are expensive at first, considering that you can work for years with them they are cheap!). You get all shades of a single colour just by using it with less or more water. The intensity is not matched by normal school water colours... mh... Okay, keep going ^^

...and more layers of colour...! Just play with them!

I glued the paper around this little cardboard. I folded the paper to the back so the sides are really clean and looking good!

And even more layers of water colours...!

You see that I darkened the edges a little bit more and the colours are more intense.

I also painted a little bit over the skull with a dark brown but only as a little touch. Like overlaying all the shades in the skull marked with the printed lines.

And after all I put on a layer of laquer to protect the surface a little bit.
