Alone - with pink fabric and a request

A friend asked me whether I could make some kind of hair accessory with a special fabric. His girl friend made a "Schultüte" which she covered with this fabric. The "Schultüte" was for his niece because she is starting school now and the official celebration with the school is today.

"Schultüte" is again a little bit of  difficulty to translate. Not because of the words but the meaning. It is (says leo dict) a large cornet of cardboard. It is filled with sweets and little gifts. In germany children gets them at their first day of school. Mostly one big one from the parents and from family and friends little ones... or everyone stuffs little presents in the big one from the parents :)

The request was just to make something for his niece hair. They didn't want to add more sweets ^^ So as you know me: I played. 

I'll show you my way of creating the hair clips because it is really easy. For this one I just cut out circles from the pink fabric and smaller circles of cord for the support of the fabric.

The hairpin already had the sparkling stones. I cut a little hole in one cord piece and put it in between the metal clips and the a larger cut (so the stones cut come through) to the other cord piece to put it on the top of the clip. I glued both pieces together. Then I cut the three pink fabric pieces (a long cut for the stones to go through). I just put them on top and added a little bit of glue between the single pieces. 

For the little rose I folded the fabric and sewed a large and narrow triangle with the wide side open. The fabric was turned and just rolled together to form a little rose. Some stitches and a lot of glue hold it together ^^

More glue hold the ribbon on the hair clip and the rose on top... That was all :)

This little heart I got from a granny swap as a little gift. I added some crochet strings and I hope it will make a little wristband for the girl.

Crochet bangle...

...or bracelet? Can I use both words or is one of them better describing this little crochet thing? :)

I made this one by crocheting around a plastic ring. I got the ring as I bought a scarf. The store was closing so you got also the stuff they used for hanging up the scarfs and other stuff. It fits perfectly as a bangle :)

The crochet was made really tight so I could create the little wave like structure on the outside. It reminds me of the fin around the head of a calamar ^^

This is Grusel, one of my little black devils. Every one of my three black cats knows that they get the best effect with their shiny fur by lying on bright fabrics! 

And yes, there is an egyptian cat goddess in the background. It was a present for me, an replica from a museum :)

No. 8 bracelet

This is a braclet my sister wanted me to make for her for some time now. Mh... since last year to be honest, after her polymer clay earring advent calender. The inspiration is the earring No. 8 (the famous one ^^, now also in pink!) although the beads are slightly alterated. But nevertheless she like to play with the earring No. 8 and therefor thought it would be better to have a braclet for playing around ^^

So here it is!

Pink volcanic rocks?

  

The surface of the fimo beads was covered with salt before baking. After the heating the salt was just solved with water. At all the places where the salt cristalls went into the soft clay the surface now got this tiny holes! It looks in reality even better than on the pictures but even looking at them I love the effect! Okay, a little bit interesting with pink as colour chice ^^ but nevertheless: cool!

And of course: Part of the pink advent calender. :)

Bracelet out of an broken barrette

Okay, I had a barrette I really loved... but with long hair (and a lot of this ^^) most barrettes, even if they are only worn for decoration, won't last long. At least in my case...

I separeted the metall ornament from the the barrette base (actually the real barrette), smoothed some sharp edges with a file and then formend the shape to be suitable for a bracelet over the wrist. It is just thin metall, so with care this was no problem. I only feared some part would brake during the process!

Afterwards just sewing it with a few stitches on a satin ribbon, fixing the ends with eyelets and using a black leather cord to go through the eyelets (I only had some gold eyelets left... I am thinking about to darken them a little bit... brass or copper ones would have been more suitable for the metall ornament but there weren't any left)
