Tentacle T-shirt!

This painted T-shirt was also part of the advent calender of my brother (like the "obey propaganda" T-shirt). Everone needs something with tentacles and since my sister already got her tentacles dress I though a tentacles T-shirt would be perfect for my brother (I hope he likes it :) ).

The different colours of the white are due to electric light vs. dark winter day light *sighs* I am hoping summer comes soon!

The procedure is the same for all fabrics I paint with stencils. I draw the tentacles free hand and then cut them out of freezer paper. I am carefull that every piece is connected with the others. And no, I never draw all the suckers anymore. I just add a little line for the height and then cut them freehand.

This was one of the teaser pictures for my advent calenders ^^

The cut stencil / freezer paper is then ironed onto the fabric and I just overlay the fabric with a gloves and my fingers! Better than any brush because you can work more carefully with your fingertips.

I had a basic layer of white and added some metallic blue but really only a little bit.

If your are layering different colours do so while all the colours are still wet! Otherwise the upper layer would not be connected to your fabric fibers and therefor could be washed out easily.

Oh, I will love the T-shirt when the colours are starting fading! Will look great :)

Did I ever mention that I need more tentacles for myself? ^^

Obey propaganda - T-shirt

In the advent calender of my little (like my sister not so little anymore ^^) brother there are mostly sweets. Yes, the good ones like Lindt and similar ones. And yes, we are all spoiled in matters of chocolate.

It was difficult for me to find 24 little items to go with the sweets. With my sister (or also the friend who received the pink advent calender) it was so easy. Lots of little cute or girly or funny things... starting from earring to little magnets...

So this year I went for only some items and mostly sweets only but the items being bigger. Like this T-shirt. I cut the picture out of freezer paper, ironed it onto the fabric and painted it over with white fabric paint. It will get really cool as soon as it was washed some times and the white paint get a little bit more washed out (although it is really a good and durable paint... will take some time...).

And I love it. If he wouldn't have liked it I would have taken it back for myself (and just make him a new one) ^^

But for a picture like this it takes so much time to cut out all the details. Mmph... So I guess no one for myself.

I would start using screen printing if it would not be so expensive to start. Once you have most of the materials it is okay... Definitly on my wanna-have-list!

This was my teaser... all the leftovers of the stencil! Little bits of freezer paper...

Octopus T-shirt - paper pattern

This was a birthday present. I am not exactly sure which devil went in me but I wanted an octopus made with a paper pattern. Okay, I still want one for myself but I don't think I am doing one of this anytime again soon. No.

This paper pattern could only be used once because with the paint and the really thin conections it broke just after adding the paint. Grrrr....

And cutting all the little suckers on the tentacles made no fun. Not at all... especially for a one-time-only pattern.

Here the pattern: It was design that the main object is on the back and the tentacles will go around both sides of the T-shirt. You can se the bend on the patchwork paper(s) on both sides.

Here the result with true colour (but not sharp... *sniff* but I run out of patience...)

And some flaslight added ^^ No true colour anymore but at least a little bit sharper outlines.

Octopus... Tentacles... all you need ;)

Crow pattern - T-shirt

To use the paper pattern on a T-shirt is quite different compared to the fabrics I tested. The fabric of the T-shirt is really thin and it absorbs the paint really fast! One has to be a lot more careful otherwise the details will smear in each other.

The small spots where a little bit red fabric showed through the black colour I just painted ober using a brush. Now just let it air dry and tomorrow I will iron it for fixation of the colour.

This time I fixed the pattern a little bit with adhesive tape. It won't stuck very strong but enough to be a little help to be sure everything stays in place and it's easy to remove while the paint is still wet.

Under the paper you can see the outline of the cardboard inside the T-shirt.

With a little bit more light: But so one can see the details. The outline is really sharp with this method! Only the right claw is a little bit smeared... but I hope nobody will notice without myself telling it ;)

But this picture gives a more real image of the colour of the T-shirt. A dark red...!

Just more pictures of the same image... but I couldn't decide ^^
