Flowers in polymer clay...

Quite a long time ago since I made my last earrings out of fimo / polymer clay and some of my molds. For the earrings I used brown polymer clay (fimo soft, and no, you can't see the original colour anymore ^^). I layered the polymer clay with different colours of aqua acryl paint. After this step (it takes some time to dry) I out my fingertips in metallic acrylic paints (from reeves, I love them!) and brush a thin layer of the colour on top. Here I used bronze. I am still surprised what you can make with some polymer clay and some colours!

I have made a lot of molds in the past, just have a look here or here (or some button molds)...

Strange seeds.

I had some kind of cone / other kind of wooden like seed containing structure. I wanted to drill a hole into the thing to use it as a bead to create earrings. During this process it broke and out came three of these beautiful seed! They look a little bit like beans but the colour is more intense and shiny and also... doesn't the pattern remind you of an ozelot?

You see, they really shine!

Here are the last ones. I just had two of the "things" each containing three seeds.

Does anybody know which kind of seed these ones are?

Yes, I know, I studied biology... but I just had the basic study in botany... ^^

Pieces of summer II

More of the glazed clay earrings - my pieces of summer part II.
Again some with leave structures...

...and a second mixed pair.

This ones are tiny versions of my new favorites. I also love them at this sizes but most of the time I prefer to wear big earrings.

More small blue ones... not the whole flower but parts of the leaves and ornaments...

And quite big ones in white. Not regular and also no translucent glaze... but still they have something special :)

Spring needs more butterflies!

This butterflies earrings are made out of little wooden butterflies meant for decoration. I coloured them (because the original colour was not really nice or of a high quality) and drilled a little hole into them with my dremel.

Perfect for spring!

Kasuarine, cones and other natural stuff - made to earrings

There is a beauty in natural things, in wood and leaves, in flowers and every single petal, in cones and roots... Organic, living material has a beauty of it's own. And I like to make earrings out of them. Just two normal little cones... I drilled a hole into them with my dremel, glued in the wire and hooked them.

Simple, yet something beautiful.

You maybe remeber the earrings I made out of the kasuarine cones? I made again one with the creme coloured bead... but also some with red glas beads. I think both looks great and I'll try some more different colours.

And I found a new strange cone / seed / wooden thing at the floral deparment of the craft store. I don't know what kind of plant created them (if you do, please let me know!). But I am into their strange look and combined with glas beads they have their very own look!

What to make out of old plastic cups?

Earrings! What else?

I played again with old plastic cups made out of polystyrene (or in german polystyrol). For more details about the material and everything, just click here (an older blog entry from me :)).

There is a craft fair at the 28th/29th of april here in leipzig where I will participate. Mh... yes... quite a long time ago since my last one. Far too long but my thesis and other things kept me too busy.

The craft fair is organised by the "craftraum".

For the people in leipzig -  the details:

Samstag 12-21 Uhr
Sonntag 11-19 Uhr

Im Hof des Craftraums
Thüringer Straße 23, Leipzig
direkt neben Spinnerei und Plagwitzer Bahnhof

Leipziger Künstler und Handwerker bieten selbstgemachte Produkte an.

Very, very large ones...

I added some stripes before...

...or looked like little dots would become after the heating process ^^

The next time I will try a different colour as background for taking pictures. Maybe it'll work better than this light one...

Pieces of summer

This are the next ceramic pieces I made to create jewelery out of them. I made them at the "Werk II" in Leipzig, where you can use the open pottery studio. You pay for the hours you use the studio. All of the clay and glazes and even the firing is included (only if you really use up to kg of clay in a very short time you may pay an euro more... yes, we are talking about a few euros, not more).

It is really nice there, the master of pottery (a one to one translation ^^ but it is the highest titel you can get in your craftmanship) will always help you. For kids it even cost less. Only the times are a problem for me... sniff.

These earrings are my personal new favorites... I love the transparent green glaze! All the other ones are now Lachafa's :)

Leaves...

...ornaments from old art nouveau tiles...

My new favorites again! There is something special in real clay and the glas like glaze! And somehow I connect the little pieces of ceramic with summer. With light and sunshine... with the mediterranean countries and old tiny villages... nothing real but it just feels like summer.

Earrings - made out of decorational stuff

You don't know what to do with your christmas decoration? Make earrings out of it! The little stars were from a christmas party :)

The black ornaments are made out of wood and originally thought to be used as scrapbooking items. A friend had them and she gave me two of them! I painted them black and made earrings out of them. I just love them!

I need more scrapbooking stuff!

Have a cup of tea?

All true tea lovers not only like their tea strong, but like it a little stronger with each year that passes.
{George Orwell, "A Nice Cup of Tea"}

I found tiny tea pots and cups in a store for decorations. You know me. I had to take them. I had to make earrings out of them ^^

I used a quite big silver ring for the tea cup so that it hangs a little bit deeper. Otherwise it would have looked strange with the size difference between the tea pot and the tea cup.

In the circus

Maybe it is going to be boring... but again: My new favorites! It is really difficult to choose at the moment which ones to wear!

Some stripes, a little bit of black smear and stripes in red and cream... create a lovely vintage effect. And hey, elefants! Who can resist elefants?!

I used crafting paper I got from a friend, while searching through her trash and materials and tools (Oh, I love to go through other work stuff!) I found a little paper punch for these elefants. I punched two elefants in the paper, cut out the circles, glued them on cardboard...

...and used a ink pad for stamping to roll the circles in the ink... and paint the elefants... Don't be carfeul at this step! The result will always look great and the smear effect is (at least in my opinion) important to create the whole effect!

You see, I am going to be a little bit more sophisticated with my paper earrings: I am using now metal for the holes!

And last but not least: A thin layer of 3D laquer (glue). You can still see how the punched elefants pop out!

No end to sparkling pink!

Okay.. that's not true! This ones will be the last ones for some time. At least the last pink earrings I made for the pink advent calendar! The ones from 2011... and what I'll make for the one in 2012... I just can show you after giving it away. So not for december 2012 or early 2013...
Puh.. that seems a little bit creepy! But what other time in the year than january to start thinking about christmas? ^^

Cardboard... with pink glitter! A lot of glue and pink glitter! And the glitter is really durable once the glue is cured :)

Guess the *not so mysterious* thing!

This earrings were made for the pink advent calendar. Yes, I may say that the pink sparkling glitter in pink will already told you so :)

But also this one is for Mich L in LA and her "Guess the mystery thing".

I love her findings and what she makes for cool jewelery out of them. Just seeing the jewelery, most of the I am completly without clue what stuff she used for creating it. And I may add: If I think I have a clue... it is going in the complete wrong direction!

So this one is for her, not so difficult at all like her stuff but still I made earrings out of non-jewelery-related stuff and I really love the result! :)

Have a closer look! I think you all already know what I used, nai? Not that strange or difficult :)
